11 Upomnieniem Pańskim* nie gardź (the Lordly admonition contemn not), mój synu (my son), nie odrzucaj (cast not aside) ze wstrętem (with abhorrence) strofowań ({His} reproofs).

12 Bowiem karci Pan (for the Lord correcteth), kogo miłuje (him whom he loveth), jak ojciec syna (as a father the son), którego lubi (of whom he is fond).

*Pański (Lordly) is an adjective, often employed in the Polish where English prefers of the Lord. Upomnienie Pańskie translates literally as the Lordly admonition; this is expressed more naturally in English as the admonition of the Lord.

Vocabulary: upomnienie (n., admonition), pański (lordly), gardzić (impf., to contemn), syn (m., son), odrzucać (impf., to cast aside), wstręt (m., abhorrence), strofować (impf., to reprove), strofowanie (n., reproof), bowiem (for), karcić (impf., to correct), kto (he who), miłować (impf., to love), ojciec (m., father), lubić (impf., to be fond of).

English rendering from the Polish 1 (more strict):

The Lordly admonition contemn not, my son; cast not aside with abhorrence His reproofs. For the Lord correcteth him whom he loveth, as a father the son of whom he is fond.

English rendering from the Polish 2 (less strict):

Contemn not the admonition of the Lord, my son; cast not aside with abhorrence His reproofs. For the Lord correcteth him whom he loveth, as a father the son of whom he is fond.
