The fourth chapter of the book of Numbers treats of the duties of the Levites. Verses 1-3: Il Signôr ur fevelà a Mosè e a Aron e ur disè (the Lord spoke unto Moses and Aaron and said unto them): fasêt il cens dai fîs di Keat, framieç dai fîs di Levi (make ye census of the sons of Kohath from amongst the sons of Levi), seont lis lôr gjernaziis e seont lis fameis dai lôr vons (according unto their lines and according unto the families of their forefathers), dai trent’agns di etât fintremai ai cincuante (from thirty years of age so far as fifty), ducj chei che a puedin fâ part di une schirie e fâ servizi te tende de cunvigne (all those who are able to be part of an array and do service in the tent of the convocation).

Verse 4: Cheste e je la vore che i fîs di Keat a varan di fâ te tende de cunvigne (this is the work which the sons of Kohath shall have to do in the tent of the convocation) e ch’e rivuarde lis robis santissimis (and which regardeth the matters most holy).

Verses 46-48: Ducj i levits che Mosè, Aron e i sorestants di Israel a faserin il cens (all the Levites of whom Moses, Aaron and the chiefs of Israel made census) seont lis lôr gjernaziis e seont lis fameis dai lôr vons (according unto their lines and according unto the families of their forefathers), dai trent’agns di etât fintremai ai cincuante (from thirty years of age so far as fifty), ducj chei che a podevin fâ part di une schirie e fâ servizi te tende de cunvigne (all those who were able to be part of an array and do service in the tent of the convocation), ducj chei che a forin segnâts (all those who were marked) a forin vot mil cinccent e otante (were eight thousand and five hundred and eighty).

Verse 49: A forin segnâts daûr il comant (they were marked according unto the command) che il Signôr al veve dât midiant di Mosè (which the Lord had given by way of Moses), dant a ognidun la vore che al veve di fâ e ce che al veve di puartâ (in giving unto each the work which he was to do and that which he was to bear). Cussì a forin segnâts come che il Signôr i veve comandât a Mosè: so were they marked as the Lord had commanded Moses.
