The thirty-sixth chapter of the book of Genesis tells of the Edomites, who descend from Esau: potomkowie Ezawa (the descendants of Esau).

Verses 2-3: Ezaw wziął sobie (Esau took unto himself) żony spośród mieszkanek Kanaanu (wives from amongst the female inhabitants of Canaan): Adę, córkę Elona Chetyty (Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite), Oholibamę, córkę Chiwwity imieniem Ana, wnuczkę Sibeona (Oholibamah daughter of the Hivite by the name Anah, granddaughter of Zibeon), i Basmat Izmaelitkę, siostrę Nebajota (and Basemath the Ishmaelite sister of Nebaioth). — Names in nominative position: Ezaw; Ada; Elon; Oholibama; Ana; Sibeon; Basmat; Nebajot.

Verses 4-5: Ada urodziła Ezawowi Elifaza (Adah bore to Esau Eliphaz), BasmatReuela (Basemath {bore} Reuel), a Oholibama urodziła Jeusza, Jalama i Koracha (and Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam and Korah). Są to synowie Ezawa (these are the sons of Esau), którzy mu się urodzili w kraju Kanaan (who were born to him in the country {of} Canaan). — Names in nominative position: Ada; Ezaw; Elifaz; Basmat; Reuel; Oholibama; Jeusz; Jalam; Korach.

Verse 8: Ezaw osiedlił się (Esau settled himself) na wyżynie Seir (in the Seir highland). Ezaw to Edom: Esau is Edom.

Verse 10: Oto imiona synów Ezawa (these are the names of the sons of Esau): Elifaz, syn Ady, żony Ezawa (Eliphaz son of Adah wife of Esau), i Reuel, syn Basmat, żony Ezawa (and Reuel son of Basemath wife of Esau).

Verse 11: Synami Elifaza byli (the sons of Eliphaz were): Teman, Omar, Sefo, Gatam i Kenaz (Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam and Kenaz).

Verse 12: A Timna (and Timna), która była drugorzędną żoną Elifaza, syna Ezawa (who was secondary wife of Eliphaz son of Esau), urodziła mu Amaleka (bore to him Amalek). To są potomkowie Ady, żony Ezawa: these are the descendants of Adah wife of Esau.

Verse 13: Oto synowie Reuela (these are the sons of Reuel): Nachat, Zerach, Szamma i Mizza (Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah). Byli to potomkowie Basmat, żony Ezawa: these were the descendants of Basemath wife of Esau.

Verse 14: A oto ci byli synami żony Ezawa, Oholibamy, córki Any, wnuczki Sibeona (and these were the sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah, granddaughter of Zibeon): urodziła ona Ezawowi Jeusza, Jalama i Koracha (she bore to Esau Jeush, Jalam and Korah).

Verses 15-16: Oto potomkowie Ezawa (these are the descendants of Esau), czyli synowie Elifaza, pierworodnego syna Ezawa (which is to say, the sons of Eliphaz firstborn son of Esau), naczelnicy szczepów (chiefs of tribes): Teman, Omar, Sefo, Kenaz, Korach, Gatam i Amalek (Teman, Omar, Zepho, Kenaz, Korah, Gatam and Amalek). Są to naczelnicy szczepów w kraju Edom (these are chiefs of tribes in the country {of} Edom), synowie Elifaza (sons of Eliphaz), potomkowie Ady (descendants of Adah).

Verse 19: Są to potomkowie Ezawa (these are the descendants of Esau), a zarazem naczelnicy ich (and also their chiefs), czyli Edomitów (which is to say, of the Edomites).

Verses 20-21: Oto synowie Seira, Choryty (these are the sons of Seir the Horite), mieszkańcy [pierwotni] tego kraju (the original inhabitants of this country): Lotan, Szobal, Sibeon, Ana, Diszon, Eser i Diszan (Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer and Dishan). Ci są naczelnikami szczepów, Choryci (these are chiefs of tribes, Horites), synowie Seira (sons of Seir), w kraju Edom (in the country {of} Edom).

Verse 22: Synami Lotana byli (the sons of Lotan were): Chori i Hemam (Hori and Hemam), siostrą zaś LotanaTimna (whereas the sister of Lotan {was} Timna).

Verse 23: Oto synowie Szobala (these are the sons of Shobal): Alwan, Manachat, Ebal, Szefo i Onam (Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho and Onam).

Verse 24: Synowie Sibeona (sons of Zibeon): Ajja i Ana (Aiah and Anah). Ten to Ana znalazł gorące źródła na stepie (it was this Anah who found the hot springs in the steppe), gdy pasł osły Sibeona, swego ojca (when he was pasturing the asses of his father Zibeon).

Verse 25: A oto dzieci Any (and these are the children of Anah): Diszon i Oholibama, córka Any (Dishon and Oholibamah daughter of Anah).

Verse 26: Synowie Diszona (sons of Dishon): Chemdan, Eszban, Jitran i Cheran (Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran and Cheran).

Verse 27: Synowie Esera (sons of Ezer): Bilhan, Zaawan i Akan (Bilhan, Zaavan and Akan).

Verse 28: Synowie Diszana (sons of Dishan): Us i Aran (Uz and Aran).

Verses 29-30: Oto naczelnicy szczepów, Choryci (these are chiefs of tribes, Horites): Lotan, Szobal, Sibeon, Ana, Diszon, Eser, Diszan (Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer, Dishan). Są to Choryci (these are Horites), naczelnicy szczepów choryckich w kraju Seir (chiefs of Horite tribes in the country {of} Seir).

Verse 33: A gdy umarł Bela (and when Bela died), królem był po nim Jobab, syn Zeracha*, z Bosry* (the king after him was Jobab son of Zerah from Bozrah). — *Nominative: Zerach; Bosra.

Verse 34: Gdy zaś umarł Jobab (as for when Jobab died), po nim królem był Chuszam z ziemi Temanitów (the king after him was Husham from the land of the Temanites).

Verse 35: Gdy umarł Chuszam (when Husham died), po nim królem był syn Bedada*, Hadad (the king after him was Hadad son of Bedad), który zadał klęskę Madianitom na równinie Moabu* (who inflicted defeat unto the Midianites in the plain of Moab); nazwa jego miastaAwit (the name of his city {was} Avith).  — *Nominative: Bedad; Moab.

Verse 36: Po śmierci Hadada (after the death of Hadad), po nim królem był Samla z Masreki* (the king after him was Samlah from Masrekah). — *Nominative: Masreka.

Verse 37: A gdy umarł Samla (and when Samlah died), po nim królem był Szaul z Rechobot nad rzeką (the king after him was Shaul from Rehoboth-on-the-river).

Verse 38: Gdy umarł Szaul (when Shaul died), po nim królem był Baal-Chanan, syn Akbora (the king after him was Baal-Hanan son of Achbor). — *Nominative: Akbor.

Verse 39: A po śmierci Baal-Chanana (and after the death of Baal-Hanan) po nim królem był Hadar (the king after him was Hadar); nazwa zaś jego miasta Pau (and the name of his city {was} Pau), a imię żony jego Mehetabeel, córka Matredy* z Me-Zahab (whereas the name of his wife {was} Mehetabel daughter of Matred from Me-Zahab). — *Nominative: Matreda.

Verses 40-43: Oto imiona naczelników szczepów Ezawa (these are the names of the chiefs of the tribes of Esau) według ich szczepów i miejscowości (according to their tribes and sites), nazwanych ich imionami (called by their names): Timna, Alwa, Jetet, Oholibama, Ela, Pinon, Kenaz, Teman, Mibsar, Magdiel i Iram (Timna, Alvah, Jetheth, Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon, Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, Magdiel and Iram). Są to naczelnicy szczepów Edomu (these are the chiefs of the tribes of Edom) według obszarów przez nich posiadanych (according to the areas held by them).
