Verse 1: Oto potomkowie Ezawa (these are the descendants of Esau), czyli Edomu (that is to say, of Edom).

Verse 2: Ezaw wziął sobie żony spośród mieszkanek Kanaanu: Esau took wives unto himself from amongst the women (female inhabitants) of Canaan. A Hittite is Chetyta; a Hivite is Chiwwita. [Wziął sobie] Adę, córkę Elona Chetyty: he took unto himself Adah, daughter of Elon the Hittite. [Wziął sobie] Oholibamę, córkę Chiwwity imieniem Ana, wnuczkę Sibeona: he took unto himself Oholibamah, daughter of the Hivite named Anah (by the name of Anah), granddaughter of Zibeon.

Verse 3: Izmaelitka: Ishmaelite woman. [Wziął sobie] Basmat Izmaelitkę, siostrę Nebajota: he took unto himself the Ishmaelite Basemath, sister of Nebaioth.

Verse 4: Ada urodziła Ezawowi Elifaza (Adah bore to Esau Eliphaz), BasmatReuela (Basemath [bore] Reuel).

Verse 5: A Oholibama urodziła Jeusza, Jalama i Koracha: and Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam and Korah. Są to synowie Ezawa, którzy mu się urodzili w kraju Kanaan: those are the sons of Esau who were born to him in the land of Canaan.

Verse 7: Gdyż zbyt liczne mieli stada (for they had [were having] herds too numerous), aby mogli być razem (that they might stay together [in order to be able to be together]); that is, the size of their herds necessitated their separation. The land was insufficient: kraj (the land), w którym przebywali (in which they were sojourning), nie mógł im wystarczyć (was not large enough for them [could not suffice unto them]) ze względu na ich mienie (on account of their possessions).

Verse 8: Ezaw osiedlił się na wyżynie Seir: Esau settled in the highland of Seir. Ezaw to Edom: Esau is Edom.

Verse 12: A Timna (and Timna), która była drugorzędną żoną Elifaza (who was the concubine [secondary wife] of Eliphaz), syna Ezawa (son of Esau), urodziła mu Amaleka (bore to him Amalek). To są potomkowie Ady, żony Ezawa: those are the descendants of Adah, wife of Esau. Names: Timna (Timna); Elifaz (Eliphaz); Ezaw (Esau); Amalek (Amalek); Ada (Adah).

Verse 14: A oto ci byli synami żony Ezawa, Oholibamy (and these were the sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah), córki Any (daughter of Anah), wnuczki Sibeona (granddaughter of Zibeon): urodziła ona Ezawowi (she bore to Esau) Jeusza, Jalama i Koracha (Jeush, Jalam and Korah). Names: Ezaw (Esau); Oholibama (Oholibamah); Ana (Anah); Sibeon (Zibeon); Jeusz (Jeush); Jalam (Jalam); Korach (Korah).

Verse 15: Oto potomkowie Ezawa (these are the descendants of Esau), czyli synowie Elifaza (that is to say, the sons of Eliphaz), pierworodnego syna Ezawa (firstborn son of Esau), naczelnicy szczepów (chiefs of tribes). The nominative plural naczelnicy szczepów connects with synowie; that is, the sons of Eliphaz were chiefs of tribes. Verse 24: Ten to Ana znalazł gorące źródła na stepie (this was the Anah who found hot springs in the steppe), gdy pasł osły Sibeona, swego ojca (when he was pasturing the asses of his father Zibeon). Names: Ajja (Aiah); Ana (Anah); Sibeon (Zibeon).

Verse 43: Magdiel i Iram: Magdiel and Iram. Są to naczelnicy szczepów Edomu według obszarów przez nich posiadanych: those are the chiefs of the tribes of Edom according to the areas held (possessed) by them. Ezawpraojciec Edomitów: Esau (is) the forefather of the Edomites. Edomici (pl.): Edomites.
