Friulian translation exercise 2

If you have studied all the Genesis posts up to the end of Gjenesi 6:1-8, have a go at completing the exercises below.

A. Using the passât prossim, translate the following from English to Friulian; to the best of your ability, employ the same usages that you have encountered in the Bible. In this and all following exercises, you can assume the subject you is singular unless it has been indicated as plural.

  1. Adam begot a son in his likeness.
  2. You have eaten from the tree.
  3. Adam lived nine hundred and thirty years.
  4. I went to hide myself.
  5. Who told you that you were naked?

B. This time using the passât sempliç, translate the following from English to Friulian; once again, try to employ the usages encountered in the Bible.

  1. Cain knew his wife.
  2. Cain argued with his brother Abel.
  3. The Lord put a mark on Cain.
  4. God finished his work on the seventh day.
  5. She was the mother of all the living.

C. Now using the presint indicatîf, translate the following from English to Friulian.

  1. He is flesh.
  2. You have good intentions.
  3. How am I supposed to know?
  4. I hear the blood of your brother.
  5. Why do you not hold your head high?

D. Translate the following from English to Friulian using the futûr sempliç.

  1. The day you shall eat of it, you shall die.
  2. You shall slither on your belly.
  3. Cain shall be avenged sevenfold.
  4. Your (plural) eyes shall open.
  5. He shall not live more than one hundred and twenty years.

E. Read aloud the numbers below, all taken from the post pertaining to Gjenesi 5.
