Italian translation exercise 17

Now that you have worked through the last two parts of chapter 4 of your study of Carlo Collodi’s Le avventure di Pinocchio (part 7, part 8), have a go at translating the sentences below from English to Italian, employing the usages you have discovered in these posts.

You will also need to use some vocabulary not encountered here before, so you will have the chance to learn a few new usages.

  1. He ended up in prison for slitting the taxi driver’s throat.
  2. He took the hammer and threw it in my face.
  3. She slipped while going up the steps.
  4. There was a dead cricket stuck on the wall.
  5. Do not go getting me angry again!
  6. I am not very smart; I have a wooden head.
  7. The boys flung stones at the windows.
  8. He received the news with his usual calmness.
  9. There is no doubt; that man is dead and gone.
  10. The pedestrian died in hospital after being hit by a van.

Possible answers:

  1. È finito in prigione per aver sgozzato il tassista.
